New happenings

I recently returned to Binghamton, NY to pick up my art on display at the River Read Bookshop to take down across the border into a new favorite area I recently discovered in Pennsylvania- Montrose and the surroundings.
I am now currently showing art on display at The Sea Hag Art Barn in Brackney, PA, which is near Montrose. The area harbors great restored historic barns, now used to house and show artwork. The Sea Hag is located at 1044 McCormick Rd. Brackney, between the Brackney Inn and Quaker Lake.

Countryside Art Tour

I just returned from a quick little trip down to Pennslyvania to visit a couple art galleries. The Sea Hag Soaps art barn was great.

Gearing up for ArtPrize

I've entered ArtPrize, one of the world's largest open art competitions located in Grand Rapids Michigan. The venue where my art installation will show is at the "Grand Central Market & Deli" located on Monroe only a couple blocks from the Monroe Square. The installation will be four panels, each panel is 50 inches high by roughly 24 inches wide. The entirety is a scene of lilies on a water surface in autumn. If you are interested in seeing past pieces that are similar, visit my older blog post Lilly Collection. I may finish it by the end of next week, and hope to load some previews on this site soon. Meanwhile, I am in Binghamton New York till Wednesday, hanging a show at River Read Books, of my printmaking.

Art Serve

Just stumbled across this great resource for artists- the Art Serve. Check it out to join the Michigan Cultural Data Project or see if there are some Regional Meetings going on near you to learn policy information and resources to ensure that arts count!

Currently...

This year has been busy and the beginning of summer has been really busy for me as an artist... so I can't complain, it is a good busy.

Currently I am working on my art installation for the upcoming Art Prize in Grand Rapids, Michigan that will take place from September 22 to October 10th where I will be showing in the Grand Central Market & Deli on Monroe Street. Here are some pictures of last year's artists at Art Prize:

I am also finishing up some new etchings for upcoming shows in Upstate New York for September. Currently I am framing some prints for a show for "Seven West Michigan Printmakers" to open on July 8th at the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts. Right now I have a showing in Montague's "Book Nook" bookstore/cafe, as well as Muskegon's Mia & Grace a hip and happening restaurant:

I am also working on a couple signs for organizations in the local community, as well as some side projects and updating my online shop at Etsy.

The Other Andy

Andy Goldsworthy, a Scottish artist who also works with nature. I like this collage of his work, because the colors, shapes and angles are so uplifting and inspiring for winter and the coming of spring in the distant horizon.
